Creating Musical Readers: Trombone Shorty

Sunday November 14, 2021
2:00 PM until 2:45 PM

Creating Musical Readers is a musical literacy program for children and their caregivers developed and presented by the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra. WSO musicians bring beloved children's stories to life, by playing their instruments along with the reading of the story. Guest musicians will talk about their instruments and what it is like to play in an orchestra.

"Hailing from the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, where music always floated in the air, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews didn’t always have the money to buy an instrument, but he did have the dream to play music. This is the story of how he made his dream take flight."

Marshall Brown’s trombone supplies the musical background to Troy Andrew's musical journey.
