American Sign Language Basics Virtual Class

6:30 PM until 7:15 PM


This class is held in four sessions: January 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th. When you register you are signing up for all four classes.

This is a fun course to learn the basics of American Sign Language. The emphasis is to build a usable sign language vocabulary and beginners level ASL structure.  Additionally, students will develop appropriate grammar through expressive and receptive signing skills.  Handouts and other online resources we will provide.  Please note, our classes are hands-on and activity focused.  Students will receive homework assignments to help them retain the information they learn during class.

 

Course Objectives

  • Students will learn the Manual Alphabet
  • Numbers 1 – 10
  • Learn the days of the week
  • Negation and Affirmations when conversing in ASL
  • ASL Sentence Structure – ASL Grammar
  • How to ask questions using the Whq and general grammar facial movements
  • Learn basic conversational phrases

A Zoom link will be emailed to you on the day of the first class.

This course is free of charge and open to the first 20 people who register.
