Blackout Poetry Kits for Teens

Thursday April 1, 2021

April is National Poetry Month!

Teens in grades 6 through 12 are encouraged to stop by the library to grab a Blackout Poetry kit and make their own blackout poetry!

"Blackout Poetry is a form of “found poetry” where you select words that catch your interest from a newspaper, book, or other printed text – along with a few additional words to make it flow. Then you “redact” all the words you don't want. Your chosen words will form a new message, giving the text a whole new meaning."

No registration required! Kits will be available in the YA area of the library throughout the month of April. Don't forget to share your creations by emailing an image to YA Librarian Whitney Brown

This kit is made possible through CARES Act funding to Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
