Enjoy a story and make a healthy Earth Day treat with Debbie Alsebai of Kidz Cooking. If your child has a food allergy, please check with us and we may be able to accomodate it.

Registration is required and will open two weeks in advance of the program. (Please use a zero rather than a K to register a kindergartener.) Registrants will receive Zoom connection info on the day of the program.  We will be making Strawberry Shortcake!

This program is funded by the Friends of the Milton Public Library and in part by a grant from Wegmans Westwood.



  • 2 quarts hulled strawberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice


  • 3 1/2 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 8 tablespoons cold butter or 1/2 cup (92g) cold shortening
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk 
  • 2 teaspoons milk, optional; for topping
  • 2 teaspoons sugar, optional; for topping
  • 1 cup (227g) whipping cream
