Sun & Shade Plants: a hands-on planting activityTuesday May 30, 2023
6:30 PM until 8:00 PM
Ever wonder how gardeners know how to plant the right combination of veggies and herbs so they can reduce their trips to the grocery store? And, how do they plant seeds and watch flowers bloom all season long just a few weeks later?
Join us for a "hands on" workshop on Tuesday, May 30 from 6:30-8pm and actually be part of the process of planting veggies, herbs, and flowers, into the new elevated raised bed Container Gardens on the Library's front patios. Members of the Milton Garden Club will be onsite to show you the "how to's" from digging the hole, to prepping the seedling, to making it happy with the right amount of water. The two Containers are in different locations on the patio, so you will also learn how to decide what grows best in full sun or in the shade of a tree. Once you leave this session, you will be ready to plant your own garden!
All tools and plants will be provided; bring along a pair of garden gloves (if desired) and your enthusiasm for helping young seedlings grow into tasty produce and flowers!
This event is for adults and is limited to the first 20 registrants.
This program is part of Milton Grows: a year-long initiative for all ages focused on gardening and sustainability. Funded by the federal Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the MBLC, and supported by our partners Sustainable Milton and the Friends of the Milton Public Library.
