Snow-Bound: A Winter Idyl by John Greenleaf Whittier

Friday February 21, 2020
10:00 AM until 11:30 AM

This calming and moving poetic experience will be guided by Poet Flora Higgins.

“Whittier took one pastoral incident, a snow storm, and skillfully used it to offer a vibrant variety of themes. According to Edward Wagenknecht, ‘Whittier also vividly recaptured past experiences and revealed the beauty of common things,’” (Robert K. Johnson 1994).

“James Greenleaf Whittier was a distinguished American poet, whose writings breathed the purest spirituality, patriotism, and humanity. There is no poet of the time who dwells nearer the hearts of the people. His name is beloved and venerated,” (N.D. Thompson 1883).
