Award winning author Yaa Gyasi takesher readers on a journey from Ghana's Gold Coast to the plantations of Mississippi, to present day. Homegoing spans eight generations beginning in the 18th century with half-sister, Effia ,who marries a British slave trader, and Esi, who is sold into slavery. This interconnected narrative follows the descendants of Effia and Esi as they live through the legacy of slavery, including wrongful arrests, Jim Crow, and political turmoil in Ghana and America.
