Celebrate Lighthouse Week with Historian Mary Rasa

One of the first government career fields open to females, lighthouse keepers taught their wives and daughters how to tend the light, leading them to become the official or assistant keepers. This program will explore the US Lighthouse Service, and look at five remarkable women keepers, including one Monmouth County resident.

Mary Rasa is a historian who worked as a museum curator and park ranger for the National Park Service for 16 years. She holds a BA in Historic Preservation and a Masters in Library Science. She has conducted over one thousand programs for audiences, from school children to academic and professional conferences, seniors groups and historical societies.

This is an encore presentation from earlier this year. Please find the event on MonmouthCountyLib.org beginning 7pm on June 23, 2021
