Baseball in American Culture

Wednesday April 21, 2021
12:30 PM until 1:30 PM

Flyer for Baseball in American CulturePlease join us on April 21st at 12:30pm for the presentation "Baseball in American Culture" by sports commentator and author, Evan Weiner. Baseball has been embedded in the American culture since the end of the Civil War. Themes from the sport have been incorporated into poems, songs, comedy routines, radio shows, and more. Business analytics may have evolved from the book Money Ball, which you may also recognize from its 2011 film adaptation. Even Broadway got into the act with a play, and the name "Cooperstown" means something special to many. Baseball was once the king of American sports. That time may have passed, but baseball in our culture has never gone away. Sponsored by FOLOCA and co-hosted by The Longmeadow Adult Center and Storrs Library.
