Whose garden is it? History & Growing for Family for ages 5-11

Tuesday August 3, 2021
10:30 AM until 11:30 AM

History and Growing Gardens come alive for youth! This free program for children, ages 5 to 11, will be held outdoors in South Braintree.  Meet special presenter Kate Hooper of Historic New England's Pierce House Museum.   She will share some info on the Pierce family's garden and do related projects with the kids. Children will find out how insects, animals and plants interact and what helps a garden grow. The Pierce Family had a kitchen garden in the 1700's where they grew herbs. Children will learn what the herbs were used for, and can make herbal sachets, design a colonial paper herb garden to take home, and maybe plant herb seeds.

Registration required. The registration form below will take registrations starting 2 weeks before the event, or you may register by calling the Children's Room 781 848-0405, It will be held at outdoors at the Braintree Arts Center, located next to the Highlands Playground in South Braintree.

Not held in rain, but a rain date will be set. Co-Sponsored by the Braintree Arts Center. Part of the "Tails and Tales Summer Reading Program".
