The Teen Diversity Book Club: Furia

Saturday March 20, 2021
2:00 PM

TEENS! Join a monthly book group that celebrates diversity through great literature! Created for readers in grades 8-12, the group will meet monthly via Zoom.  The first book in the discussion series is Furia by Yamile Saied Mendez and the book discussion is offered virtually on Saturday, March 20th at 2:00 pm.  Furia is a Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine Book Club YA Pick, the recipient of the 2021 Pura Belpré Young Adult Author Medal, one of BuzzFeed's Must-Read YA Books of 2020, and a Best Book of the Year as chosen by Cosmopolitan, Kirkus Reviews, SheReads and the New York Public Library.

Set in Rosario, Argentina, Furia is the story of Camila Hassan, a talented fútbol player who has a chance of getting a scholarship for her skills at an American university.  But life isn’t that easy; traditional choices for Camila don’t include becoming a female sports star.  Filled with authentic details and the textures of day-to-day life in Argentina, heart-soaring romance, and breathless action on the pitch, Furia is the story of a girl’s journey to make her life her own.

There are a limited amount of FREE copies of the book; register and recieve yours!  A Zoom link will be emailed to you prior to the first meeting.
