DAR Genealogy WorkshopWednesday March 29, 2023
2:30 PM until 4:30 PM
As we approach the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, have you ever wondered if you are descended from someone who helped found our country? An American Patriot, as defined by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is anyone who contributed to the cause of American freedom.
Consider membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), a volunteer women’s service organization that honors and preserves the legacy of our Patriot ancestors. Nearly 250 years ago, American Patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of the DAR, you can continue this legacy by actively promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America’s future through better education for children.
The Trumbull-Porter Chapter DAR, will be holding a Genealogy Workshop for women interested in joining the DAR. Experienced genealogists will be present to help you get started on your search. Please bring any documentation you have collected so far that shows your lineage.
Reservations are requested. Please contact Chapter Registrar, Katie Gabrielson at 203-217-2234 or Katieg.TrumbullPorterDAR@gmail.com for more information.
Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership. DAR volunteers are willing to provide guidance and assistance with your first step into the world of genealogy. DAR has nearly 190,000 members in nearly 3,000 chapters worldwide, including chapters in 14 foreign countries and one territory. Since its founding in 1890, DAR has admitted more than 1 million members.
