Spend Valentine's Day exploring the works of Pittsburgh's beloved photographer, Teenie Harris. Charlene Foggie-Barnett, Charles “Teenie” Harris Specialist at the Carnegie Museum of Art, will provide an image filled presentation on the works of Teenie Harris. To celebrate our love for Teenie and in honor of Valentine's Day a reception of sweet treats will immediately follow the presentation. Please register for this event.
As the Charles “Teenie” Harris Specialist at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Charlene Foggie-Barnett wears many hats. Her primary responsibilities are serving the greater community through outreach presentations and oral history collection. Mr. Harris has approximately 80,000 photo images in the collection housed at CMOA. As a native of Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood, and having the opportunity to have been photographed dozens of time by Teenie from her birth through her late 20’s, Ms. Foggie-Barnett can speak both professionally and personally about the artist’s work process, family life, professional prowess and cultural relevance. Charlene came to the Carnegie Museum as a volunteer, identifying the nearly 250 photos of herself, her family, friends, and venues and identified other Pittsburghers laden in the Teenie photos, as well. In her outreach events, she includes beautiful power point information on Teenie and his photography, as well as oral histories, CMOA exhibition prints, Teenie Harris books and pamphlets, and website information. Her other responsibilities for the archive include working on the curation of exhibitions within and off site of CMOA, as well as film and television companies, authors, educators, historians, students and art patrons.
