Paper cutting artist Kathryn Carr will introduce you to the art and process she uses to create silhouettes and Scherenschnitte. She will discuss the basic history of paper cutting and how it spread throughout different cultures and will show examples of these various styles. She will also discuss her background and how she got started with paper cutting and the different ways she has used it in her art.  Album covers, greeting cards, original art, children’s books…

 

To the first 25 registrants who attend, Kathryn will provide a gift of a bookmark, greeting card and a few postcards in addition to a sample of the paper she uses for her art. This gift, including a coupon code for a discount on her website, can be picked up at the library after the talk (participants will be emailed when it is available). 

 

Paper Cutting Artist Kathryn Carr will be conducted via the free video conferencing software Zoom and a Library staff member will be supervising the session.  The Librarian coordinating the event will email each registrant a Zoom meeting invitation before the start of the program.  Zoom is available as a free desktop (for Windows, MacOS, and Linux Operating systems) and mobile application for Android and Apple iOS devices. Once Zoom is installed, you will be able to join the virtual Library program.

Registration is required.  By registering for this event you have agreed to comply with the library's patron behavior policy. All non-compliant participants will be immediately and permanently blocked from further participation.  Because the Librarian facilitating the event will not be able to provide live technical support during the virtual program, it is strongly encouraged you familiarize yourself with Zoom in advance of the program.
