Movie Musicals: The 50s (Virtual Program)

Jim Valimont from the Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club will discuss the musicals of the 50s. This decade featured perhaps the greatest collection of blockbuster musicals, especially from MGM. We will also feature the technological innovations that brought people to the theaters, even at a time when television is becoming almost universally popular. It is a decade of new stars in musicals, including Gordon MacRae, Howard Keel, and especially Doris Day.

Jim Valimont is a retired engineer from PPG Industries. He received a B. S. degree in Chemical Engineering and a M. S. degree in Colloids, Polymers, and Surface Chemistry, both from Carnegie-Mellon University.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of Mt. Lebanon Public Library.
