Harriet Beecher Stowe: A Catalyst for Civil War with Jan Turnquist

Jan Turnquist's living history characterizations are like one-woman plays, using actual words and facts of the historic woman's life to make the figure come to life again. However, Turnquist's living history portrayals are not usually scripted, but allow for spontaneity and conversation with willing audience members. Questions and comments are always welcome. Audience members do not need to be versed in the character's life, but Jan will always remain in character and know only of her time period. (After performances, if desired, Turnquist is willing to "be herself" and answer questions about her research and character development.)

This program was supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Preschool Playgroup Registration

Registration opens TODAY for the next round of Preschool Playgroup.  Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers are invited to join Miss Heidi for 45 minutes of free play, stories, songs and activities.  Playgroup will be held on Tuesdays from 11:15 AM-12:00 PM and the first meetup of this 5-week session will be held 4/2/24. (Meetings will be 4/2, 4/9, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7) This is a great opportunity for both adults and children to spend time with other families with same aged children in an engaged and meaningful way and will be ourl last registered playgroup of the school year.  (Siblings are welcome and we just ask that you note them on the registration form too.)  Playgroup is geared for childen ages 3-5 so we do ask that if the child you are registering is not within the age range you wait until they do "age in".  Registration is walk-in only for the first 3 days, and one registration holds your spot for all 5 meetings. Questions?  Reach out to Miss Heidi!

It doesn't matter if you are 8 or 80.  There is something magical and freeing about snapping those Lego bricks together to create something new, so cast your work and worries aside for an hour and join us for some building time. We will also have some larger Duplo blocks available for our younger friends who might not be Lego-ready yet.  Families and family-like groups of ALL ages are welcome to attend.  Challenge a neighbor!  Bring a friend!  Declare a Lego War!
(This is not just for children but all children must be accompanied by an adult.)
