Meditation for Everyone-- a 4-Week Series : [ SHALER ]

If you are NEW to this series, please contact the library for introductory materials before this session. Email Beth at lawryb2@einetwork.net.

This is a 4-week course. Registration indicates participation in all four weeks. A Zoom link will be emailed to you for each session. The program is free, though donation through the Library's website is welcome.

Carve 30 minutes out of your week to learn simple and practical meditation techniques that can easily be applied in everyday life. Science based benefits of meditation include reduced stress and anxiety levels, improved mood, increased self-awareness, increased energy, memory boost, healthy sleep habits, increased immunity and unconditional joy. Through the practice of meditation, we cultivate inner peace, harmony and well-being. Each session will include a brief discussion and experiential practice. Session includes handouts  to support your home practice. All levels of meditators welcome.

Teacher Cynthia Ballard is grateful to have discovered the gift of yoga and meditation while navigating through an illness over 20 years ago. She found the practices so beneficial in managing her symptoms that she began to share with others through her experience. Cynthia is a 500+ hour certified yoga teacher specializing in meditation, relaxation, hatha yoga, yoga nidra, restorative yoga, and mobility practices. Cynthia has taught at a local yoga studio for over 14 years and has been volunteering at Our Clubhouse (cancer support center) for over 13 years sharing practices for peace and well-being. Cynthia has also shared these practices at the Hillman Cancer Center, MS Society and hospice.

HOME DOWNSIZING WORKSHOP: DON’T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN? WE’LL GET YOU STARTED: You've spent a lifetime accumulating antiques, collectibles, and other household contents. Now you’re ready to downsize. What do you do with the items that you no longer want or need? In this presentation Mike will show you how you can sell your excess personal property for the greatest amount of cashwith the least amount of workin the shortest amount of time...in today's rapidly changing market.

Virtual Monday Maker Lab : [ MTLEB ]

Join resident artist Judé Ernest for collaborative workshops every 2nd and 4th Monday using the CreativeBug database or YouTube instructional videos. Enter through the library's website and use your Mt. Lebanon card to access CreativeBug (https://www.creativebug.com/lib/mtlebanonlibrary), but anyone can participate, even if you don't have access to the database.

Each session, we'll try a new technique or CreativeBug class and discuss our experiences with Judé and others in the group. She will offer advice, encouragement of your work, and tips that will help you go beyond the class. Register below.

Virtual Maker Mondays will be conducted via the free video conferencing software Zoom and a Library staff member will be supervising the session.  The Librarian coordinating the event will email each registrant a Zoom meeting invitation before the start of the program.  Zoom is available as a free desktop (for Windows, MacOS, and Linux Operating systems) and mobile application for Android and Apple iOS devices. Once Zoom is installed, you will be able to join the virtual Library program.

Registration is required.  By registering for this event you have agreed to comply with the library's patron behavior policy. All non-compliant participants will be immediately and permanently blocked from further participation.  Because the Librarian facilitating the event will not be able to provide live technical support during the virtual program, it is strongly encouraged you familiarize yourself with Zoom in advance of the program. You can also contact the Library’s Virtual Reference Service for assistance learning Zoom.  You can also join a test meeting to familiarize yourself with Zoom. For more in-depth instructions please visit the Zoom support page on joining a meeting.

Virtual Meetup - Second and Fourth Mondays of the Month - 1:00 PM

More than entertaining stories to be viewed from a sofa and then benignly forgotten, cinema is an art form rich in expression and worthy of our time and attention.

Join Brandon for a fun discussion of a variety of films from John Wayne to Shirley Temple as we look "behind the scenes" to unpack each selection's historical significance, stylistic choices, and meanings.

You may laugh, you may cry, you may even raise an eyebrow and wonder "What was that?", but you'll certainly be affected. They don't call 'em moving pictures for nothing!

This week's selection: Samsara (2011)

Filmmaker Ron Fricke creates a global travelogue with pictures and music, exploring the Himalayas, the American Southwest, European cathedrals, and other beautiful sites.  (Rotten Tomatoes)
