The Historical Book Discussion Group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. (except July). Books are selected on topics of American History from pre-Revolutionary War to present time including biographies, non-fiction and classics. The Great Decisions discussion program is a civic education program administered and produced by the Foreign Policy Association. In preparation for the discussion, participants read the relevant chapter on a particular foreign policy issue in the Great Decisions briefing book that will be available for check out. The Great Decisions discussion program is a civic education program administered and produced by the Foreign Policy Association. In preparation for the discussion, participants read the relevant chapter on a particular foreign policy issue in the Great Decisions briefing book that will be available for check out. A short DVD will be shown followed by a moderated discussion among the participants.

Explore our new Makerspace as we create all sorts of fun and useful items like keychains, coasters, custom buttons, or jewelry. Crafts will take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour—drop by and see what’s new each month!

Stressing about taking the SAT? Take a full-length, virtual practice test to ward off test day jitters and see how you may score on the big test. Experience first-hand what test day will be like! A representative from C2 Education will provide a virtual practice test and contact you with scores and analyzed results. Bring your own device to take the test, or use one of the library's laptops. The Monday Night Page Turners book discussion group meets on the third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m., except August (no meeting) and December (end of year party). The group reads contemporary and classic fiction and nonfiction. Copies of the books are available at the Circulation Desk. Design and build with the library’s LEGO® supply to complete the challenge.

In-Person Event
Journey with us on the Illinois and Michigan Canal, the waterway that made Chicago what it is today. We will tour restored canal buildings, visit canal towns, hike the tow path, ride on a mule drawn canal boat, and meet the people who built and used the canal.

The Historical Book Discussion Group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. (except July). Books are selected on topics of American History from pre-Revolutionary War to present time including biographies, non-fiction, and classics. Regarded as America's most popular painter during his life, Norman Rockwell has endured in the memories of people who enjoyed the covers he painted for The Saturday Evening Post for nearly sixty years. This program, presented by art historian Jeff Mishur, takes a look at the development of Rockwell's career from his earliest days at The Post to the years after he left and began illustrating for Look and Life magazines.
