#RealMediaGirl Workshop
10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

(Signup here: https://forms.gle/wyoTyAVrffA5K233A)

Social media's influence on our daily life is undeniable. Studies have link to their negative impact on teens, especially teen girls.

Girls log on to feel more connected with their peers, but they often log off feeling lonelier and more insecure about their bodies and their lives in general.

This 90-minute workshop is designed for girls 11 and up. It teaches participants to think critically about how they use social media and provides concrete ways to help them change their behavior. The workshop would cover:

How social media specifically impacts girls’ well-being based on current trends and research.
New ways to think critically about technology and its potential for good/bad.
How to identify the made-up “girl rules” on social media that amp up insecurity and loneliness for girls.
New ways girls are committing to making social media more uplifting and positive for themselves.
How girls can band together to transform social-media culture into a healthier space for all of us.

To signup, please call the library or fill out this form: https://forms.gle/wyoTyAVrffA5K233A.

Birds of the New England Swamp
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Wildlife photographer Peter Christoph presents a narrated slideshow, sharing both his award-winning images and his photographic secrets as he brings you inside a typical New England swamp. Peter provides an intimate look into the many varieties of birds that inhabit our swamps, including ospreys and herons, shorebirds, woodpeckers, and other cavity dwellers. Sloshing and crawling through the swamp so you don’t have to, Peter captures the bird’s many activities including building the nest, feeding their young, and catching their prey. You’ll almost want to bring your own wading boots and bug spray for protection as you sit down to watch this captivating presentation.

This program is made possible by the generous support of Whitcomb House Trust. All are welcome. No registration required.
