Tai Chi for Teens

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art form which helps with the integration of mind and body. It revolves around cultivating life energy, or Qi, which flows smoothly and powerfully. It is much more than exercise--some potential benefits include body awareness, mindfulness, balance, focus, calmness, flexibility, coordination, muscle strength, improved immunity, and internal and external strength and grace.

This class is designed to teach teens not only the gentle movements of Tai Chi but also how to be patient and persevere in a practice that takes time to develop. Our Western mindset is challenged with this Eastern concept of regular practice and patience.

This class runs for 10 weeks. Sign up once for the whole series!

Stephano: The True Story of Shakespeare’s Shipwreck.

The 90-minute film follows the story of the only Mayflower passenger who had been to North America previously.

Two-time Emmy-nominated producer Andrew Giles Buckley and his crew are hot on the trail of Stephen Hopkins, a Virginia-bound castaway who found his way not only onto the decks of the Mayflower a decade later, but immortalized on stage as the drunken Stephano in Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

This will be followed by a discussion with the creator and host, Andrew Buckley. Supported by a grant from the Canton Cultural Council.

Teen Outdoor Game Night

Teens are invited to play video games outside. We'll keep it going outside as long as our fingers are able to hold controllers without getting frost bite.

In the event of bad weather, we will move inside to the community room (masks required by everyone) unless there is another event scheduled for that night, in which case Game Night will be canceled. Be sure to check back here before heading out if the weather is iffy!

Teen Advisory Group

All high school students who are interested in volunteering at the library should come to this informational meeting to:

  • learn about volunteer tasks and projects
  • share ideas about new and existing library projects that require input from teens
  • sign up for community service hours!

We will meet at the picnic tables outside on the back lawn, unless the weather is bad, in which case we will meet at the YA desk.
