September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World @ Central

Told across 14 posters, this exhibition includes archival photographs and images of artifacts from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s permanent collection. It explores the consequences of terrorism on individual lives and communities at the local, national, and international levels, and encourages critical thinking about the legacies of 9/11. The poster exhibition will be on display at Central Library, 140 Sockanosset Cross Road, through the month of September.

Let's go bananas for fruit salad at this outdoor storytime for children ages newborn to 5 years.  We'll count the fruits and vegetables we put in our salad, talk about their colors, and read, read, read.  Please bring a chair, blanket and register to secure your egg and scarf.

From morning to bedtime we will read stories and sing songs about getting ready in this preschool program for kids ages 0-5 in Auburn's new outdoor space. After our stories children can have fun together with toys, chalk and coloring pages.

Programs are designed so participants can practice social distancing; masks are encouraged. Registration is required. In case of inclement weather, this program will be cancelled; registered participants will recieve an email in the event of a cancellation. 

Please note: While their is some seating available, participants are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit upon if possible and to use umbrellas, hats, or sunscreen for sun protection.

The year 2021 is very special for Italians and those who love Italian culture, as it marks the 700th anniversary of the death of the great Italian poet Dante Alighieri. This multimedia presentation provides a brief history of Dante and includes a discussion of his literary works, with a focus on his famous allegorical poem The Divine Comedy.

From morning to bedtime we will read stories and sing songs about getting ready in this preschool program for kids ages 0-5 in Auburn's new outdoor space. After our stories children can have fun together with toys, chalk and coloring pages.

Programs are designed so participants can practice social distancing; masks are encouraged. Registration is required. In case of inclement weather, this program will be cancelled; registered participants will recieve an email in the event of a cancellation. 

Please note: While their is some seating available, participants are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit upon if possible and to use umbrellas, hats, or sunscreen for sun protection.

During this program children and their caregivers will be given all the materials and instructions needed to complete a craft or activity together. This program is in-person and indoors and will take place every other Saturday on 9/25, 10/9, 10/23. Registration is required, and registering will sign your child for all 3 sessions.

YA for Adults Book Group is for adults interested in reading young adult books. This book club is perfect for those who already love young adult literature, or are looking to branch out and read outside their normal purview! We meet the 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm.

Drop in anytime between 2:00 - 4:00 PM and receive help with:

  • learning how to use your computer, smartphone, tablet, or even older phone
  • writing a basic resume or applying for jobs online
  • using our Media Preservation Station to convert VHS tapes, cassettes, and vinyl to digital

No appointment necessary. First come, first serve. We do our best to help everyone. If we don't know the answer to your question, we will point you in the right direction. Laptops are available for use.

Want to make fun crafts that you can wear? Come to Costume Party an hour-long program intended for kids in grades K-5 to attend outdoors at the William Hall Library. We'll read stories about witches, monsters, creatures from outer space and more, then create costumes based on the characters! Registration is required, space is limited. 

In case of inclement weather, this program will be held online with kits available for pick-up at the Circulation Desk. Participants will be notified via email in case of cancellation.
