Our examination of "locked room" mysteries continues with Mystery of the Yellow Room by Gaston Leroux. First published in 1907, this intriguing and baffling tale is a classic of early 20th-century detective fiction. At the heart of the novel is a perplexing mystery: How could a crime take place in a locked room which shows no sign of being entered? Nearly a century after its initial publication, Leroux's landmark tale of foul play, deception, and unbridled ambition remains a blueprint for the detective novel genre. Called "The finest locked room tale ever written" by none other than John Dickson Carr. Print copies are available at the circulation desk. This book is also available as an e-book and an e-audiobook on Hoopla.

A “signature” song has been defined as the one song that a well-established recording artist or band was best known for. A signature song may be a song that spearheads an artist's initial mainstream breakthrough, a song that revitalizes an artist's career, or a song that simply represents a high point among years of recordings.
During this program we will have an opportunity to watch video recordings of many such numbers by a variety of vocalists including Frank Sinatra (“My Way”), Patti Page (“Tennessee Waltz”), Tony Bennett (“I Left My Heart in San Francisco”), and Andy Williams (“Moon River”). Registration required for this Zoom program.
