This program consists of 4 weekly sessions and is specifically geared toward children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2022, along with their caregiver(s). Please note, you are registering for all 4 sessions.

Week 2: Shapes and Cutting
Week 3: Numbers
Week 4: Self Portrait
Kits will be available for pickup in the Children's Department prior to the program.

ASL Basics Part 2 with Signing Basics

Did you attend the ASL Basics 1 with Signing Basics class? Or do you have a basic knowledge of sign language? Or do you want to learn more about common phrases? Join us for ASL Basics Part 2 with Signing Basics. This class is virtual with Zoom.

The main focus of this course is to incorporate the participants’ current vocabulary into Conversational Phrases that can be used immediately. To achieve this, we have expanded our sign vocabulary in the following ways: Greetings, “Good morning (afternoon, evening), How (are) you?” and responses such as, “(I) Fine, SO-SO Okay, Tired…” Additionally, this course teaches how to ask about another person’s activities such as, “Today, you do (what?)” and responses “Today, Afternoon Wedding (I) Go To” and finally how to end conversations such as, “Bye, see later” “See tomorrow” “Take care”.

This is a four part class: 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29. Sign up for all parts on the September 8th registration.

A Celebration of Animation

Award-winning author and pop culture historian Martin Gitlin hosts this fun and enlightening presentation for all ages based on his book, A Celebration of Animation: The 100 Greatest Cartoon Characters in Television History. He is the only author to actually rank the greatest cartoon characters ever, such as Popeye, Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Scooby Doo, Snoopy and SpongeBob SquarePants. He will show funny cartoon snippets of characters from the past century, play trivia with patrons, discuss the criteria he used to rank the best of the best and speak about their impact on American pop culture. Adults, teens, kids …. This program is fun for everyone!
