Transform your hooded sweatshirt into a Halloween costume! Bring a hoodie that's a good base color for your idea, and then take a couple hours and let your imagination loose with felt, thread, scissors and enough glue to hold it all together. Your costume can be whatever your imagination wants. A hoodie can transform you into an elf, zombie, ear of corn, nun, werewolf, nearly any animal or whatever appeals to you. You stand a chance of staying warm on Halloween night and being able to peel it off and pretend you saw no such creature when you feel like it.
Grades 6-12. Registration is required.

Vampires in Early New England? – Myths and Realities of the Undead
Join us for a lecture by Thomas Kelleher, Historian and Curator of Mechanical Arts of Old Sturbridge Village.
Did some rural Yankees 200 years ago believe in vampires? It might not be what you expect! Why did scores of early New Englanders open the graves of their sweethearts, sons, daughters, husbands and wives? What were they looking for? What did they do with the dead bodies of their loved ones? What terror drove them to these extremes? What about Count Dracula? This talk illustrated with PowerPoint slides answers these questions and more.
