Practice your reading this Fall with Tasha! Meet Tasha, an adorable 4 year-old Maltese therapy dog who loves to listen to kids read!

The Read to A Dog program is designed to give children a stress-free environment where they can practice and enjoy reading. Reading to dogs can boost reading skills in children as well as help with emotional and social skills.

Jungle Jim Magic Balloon Show!

On Friday, September 24th at 10:00 a.m. the Hanson Public Library welcomes back Jungle Jim and his “Tails and Tales” Balloon Magic Show! 

This performance is recommended for children ages 3-10.  Space is limited for this outdoor, in-person program, so be sure to sign up! 

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Hanson Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

October Teen Book Box

Do you like books and surprises? Try the Hanson Public Library's new subscription box service: Teen Book Box! Here's how it works:

1. Sign up for a Teen Book Box each month. Each box will include a new library book, treats, crafts, and more!
2. Pick up your box at the Hanson Library the first Monday of the month. Once you get home, open your surprise! You'll have to return the library book at the end of the month, but you get to keep everything else.  
3. Repeat: return the book and pick up your next month's box!

Supplies are limited. Open to grades 6-12. Please fill out a form for each teen requesting a box.

Sign up for the October boxes will open on Wednesday September 15th.

Boxes will be available for pickup on Monday October 4th.

Martha Hall Kelly Author Talk

Join the Hanson Public Library Foundation for a special event with New York Times bestselling author Martha Hall Kelly on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 6:30 pm in the Lodge at Camp Kiwanee. Ms. Kelly will be discussing "Sunflower Sisters," the second prequel to her international blockbuster, "Lilac Girls".

Lilac Girls introduced readers to Caroline Ferriday, an American philanthropist who helped young girls released from Ravensbrück Concentration Camp. In "Sunflower Sisters," Martha Hall Kelly tells the story of Caroline’s ancestor Georgeanna Woolsey, a Union nurse who joins the war effort during the Civil War and tends to wounded soldiers at Gettysburg (https://MarthaHallKelly.com).

This limited-capacity event is sponsored by the Hanson Public Library Foundation Inc. Attendees will be required to pre-register and to wear masks. Reserve your place early to attend. Copies of Martha’s three books: "Sunflower Sisters," "Lilac Girls," and "Lost Roses," will be available at the event for purchase and signing.
