A two hour event, geared towards adults interested in gardening, wildlife and environmental conservation.
The event will begin with a 20 minute slide talk about ecologically beneficial gardening practices, and the importance of native plants. A 10 minute art demonstration will follow with tips and guidance on how to paint flowers. Images of native plant flowers will be available for reference.
Attendees will use acrylic paint, with brush and marker to paint native flowers onto provided butterfly signs and their plant pot. They will select 1-2 species of native plant seeds, collected by community members, to plant in 1-2 pots and take these home to add to their own gardens. Information on best growing conditions for the plants will be shared to encourage people to select the right plant for the right site. Plant species include native milkweed, coneflowers, bee balm, goldenrod and asters.
Resources will be shared for participants to learn more about native plant gardening.
Special thanks to Butterfly Level Sponsor Mel’s Records, thanks to Flower Level Sponsor BareWolf Brewing. Soil Donation from Coast of Maine & Aubuchon Hardware Haverhill
