Handcrafted Holidays

Using old cds, this "Grab and Go"  craft kit will allow you to create 4 woven drink coasters.  A great way to upcycle materials for an fun holiday gift.  Crafters ages 8 and up will be able to make this craft.  Younger ages will need adult assistance.

Kits will be available while supplies last.  Registration is not required.

We want teens in our community to feel heard and have a voice, so join us at a TAB meeting not only for fun and some snacks, but to have input on the teen programs and activities the Holbrook Public Library provides.

Meets every 1st Tuesday of the month from 4-5pm

Open to ages 16 and up.  Bring your own supplies and we will provide a sampling of our Fiber Crafting books.

We'll be playing an assortment of various board games, including but not limited to: Catan, Ticket to Ride, Pictionary, Teletrastions, Monopoly, Scrabble, One Night Werewolf, Human Era, Uno, and many more! We encourage you to bring along your favorite game as well. 

Walk-ins welcome, but registering is always encouraged for better preparation!

This week's " Grab and Go" kit features an easy Tassel Garland.  A colorful way to add some color to a child's bedroom or playspace.  Great for adults as well.  Craft is most  suitable for ages 8 and up.  Younger children will need adult assistance.

Registration is not required but is available for those preferring particular color schemes.  Available while supplies last for non registered participants.

Tea Of The Month Club

Did you know that after plain water, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world?   There is always a new tea to try and HPL will help you do just that with our Tea Of The Month Club!

Every month, we will sample a new variety of tea. Each Tea Kit will include brewing instructions, a portion of tea to brew one to two cups, and a book or movie recommendation! Pick up your kit, brew your tea and enjoy! Share a photo of your favorite tea drinking spot on our FB or Instagram page...write a review of the chosen tea for other tea lovers....   Register to reserve your Tea Kit.  After two weeks, any remaining kits will be available to all as "Grab and Go" kits while supplies last.  Open to all ages.

Knotters Craft Night

Whether you need a gift for a friend or just a gift for yourself, this crocheted Chunky Yarn Scarf will meet your needs.  A true gift from the heart.

Our guest instructor will teach us an easy crochet stitch and pattern for a Chunky Yarn Scarf that can be made in under an hour.  A perfect beginner crochet project.

Registration is required and will be limited to 15 attendees.  Open to ages 18 and up.  Chunky yarn and crochet needles will be supplied but if you want a special color of yarn, you are welcome to bring your own skein.

Looking for a classic book club with great discussion and variety? Join us the third Wednesday of each month in person at the library at 2:00 PM. The hour-long gatherings begin with a lively discussion of the chosen book followed by a selection process to identify the next community read. 

Recent selections include prize winning authors and titles such as:The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead; The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali; Meet Me at the Museum by Anne Youngson; Clock Dance by Anne Tyler; Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell; Run Rose, Run by Dolly Parton / James Patterson; and The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand

This month's book is:  The Secret Of Snow by Viola Shipman.

December is filled with different Holiday Celebrations and today we will create decorative 3D Honeycomb Paper Ornaments that work for Christmas, Hanukkah, or Yule.  This "Grab and Go" Kit has supplies to create 3 ornaments.

Handcrafted Holidays -Winter Solstice

 December 21st, the Winter Solstice,  brings the Longest Night of the Year which is why the start of  Yule celebrates the beginning of the return of the Sun to brighten the world.

Using recycled books, this "Grab and Go" Kit will help you create a Pillar Style Decorative "Candle" to add light to the darkness and to celebrate the rebirth of  the Sun.  A battery operated tea light and some fresh greenery will be included in each kit.  Registration is required to reserve a kit.  Any extra kits will be available while supplies last.

Handcrafted Holidays - Kwanzaa

As we start the last week of the year, our Grab and Go Craft Kit is in honor of the holiday traditions of Kwanzaa.  Kwanzaa is a 7 day cultural festival which celebrates family, community, and culture.  Based on African agricultural festivals and based in on no religious beliefs, Kwanzaa focuses on the Seven Principles or the Nguzo Saba.  Every night, a candle on the Kinara is lit as the family reflects on that day's Principle and they recommit to each Principle and other central Cultural values.

You will be crafting a quilled paper Kinara with the supplies included in your kit

(Bring Your Own Book) Club where each month, we will explore a new genre and each reader gets to choose their own book from that genre! On the lastTuesday of the month, we will meet and discuss our choices, share recommendations (or criticisms), and choose the next month's genre.

We will be starting off B.Y.O.B. Club with a popular genre :  Biographies
