Poetry Reading Night

The Kingston Public Library will host a poetry reading night, featuring local poets Noah Brown and Sheila Lynch-Benttinen. After Brown and Lynch-Benttinen have read selections of their own poetry, the program will feature an “open mic,” where attendees have three minutes to read a favorite poem or their own poetry. Patrons may sign up the night of the program, with a minimum of 10 spots.

After Brown and Lynch-Benttinen have read selections of their own poetry, the program will feature an “open mic,” where attendees have three minutes to read a favorite poem or their own poetry. Patrons may sign up the night of the program, with a minimum of 10 spots.

Originally from St. Albans Maine, Brown now makes his home in Kingston. He has held a number of positions including teacher, tutor, farmhand, bartender, security, and a few positions in between which may indicate a troubled life, if he did not also write poetry.

While never being published, Brown has gained a small following with just over one-thousand followers on Instagram where he posts his first drafts under the handle @Genres_of_self.

Similarly, Lynch-Benttinen has had a varied career with many interests, including archeology, history, photography, painting, and poetry. Her poetry has been published in over 20 journals and 10 times in Haikuniverse. Lynch-Benttinen was featured alongside two different art exhibitions in Massachusetts and she was a 2024 Pushcart Prize Nominee.

Lynch-Benttinen has worked in Boston for many years in a variety of occupations involved in environmental issues. She presently lives in Duxbury with her husband, daughter, and bearded collie.
