Remembering Together

Discussion Topic: What is your most treasured Holiday memory?

Our lives are made up of stories.  The Remembering Together program offers seniors a unique opportunity to share with one another some of their memorable life stories. These stories are often a source of encouragement, mutual appreciation, perspective, and a sense of connection.  Of course, there are also times when a story gives everyone a good laugh.

Please join The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester and the Manchester City Library for a conversational group at the Senior Center on Mondays at 10:30am, December 11 & 18, January 8 & 29, February 12. Virtual attendance is also available!

For questions, call Susan Harmon at 603-624-6550 x7620 or email sharmon@manchesternh.gov

Adult DIY: The Christmas Spider

Have you ever heard about the legend of the Christmas Spider? Grab one of these adult craft kits and read all about it!

These colorful, beady little spiders are about as cute as a spider can be. If you want, you can give them a spooky Halloween vibe that looks a little like “Nightmare Before Christmas” by switching out your colored bead selections later on. This popular holiday project is festive, fun and easy. All you need are a few beads, craft wire, some basic tools and that good old holiday spirit.

These kits are for adults only and will be available on Tuesday, December 12th in the Library Rotunda while supplies last. For more information about this fun little project please contact Yvonne L. at 603-624-6550 ext. 7620 or e-mail yloomis@manchesternh.gov.

NH Wraparound Monthly Coaching

The IOD at UNH is one of a network of University Centers for Excellence in Disability (UCEDs) across the US. We are also a 501(c)(3) non-profit. My team, the IOD Children’s Behavioral Health Team, is focused on building and strengthening systems that support the mental health and wellness of children, youth, and families. Most of the work that we do is workforce development (training) and organizational development (consultation), and our customers are orgs like public schools, social services agencies, and publicly-funded mental healthcare providers.

NH Wraparound is a Medicaid-billable intensive mental health service for children and families that is provided by two state-designated Care Management Entities (CMEs), with oversight from NH DHHS. NH DHHS contracts with UNH IOD to provide training and monthly professional coaching to all NH Wraparound Coordinators. There are no fees for participants directly because it’s all covered by the contract with the state. This recurring meeting is monthly professional coaching for NH Wraparound providers who serve the central part of the state, including the greater Manchester area.

Remembering Together

Discussion Topic: What words of wisdom would you pass on to your childhood self?

Our lives are made up of stories.  The Remembering Together program offers seniors a unique opportunity to share with one another some of their memorable life stories. These stories are often a source of encouragement, mutual appreciation, perspective, and a sense of connection.  Of course, there are also times when a story gives everyone a good laugh.

Please join The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester and the Manchester City Library for a conversational group at the Senior Center on Mondays at 10:30am, December 11 & 18, January 8 & 29, February 12. Virtual attendance is also available!

Introduction to Self-Publishing with Author Jamie Orr

Join the Manchester City Library on Tuesday, January 9 at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium to learn about self-publishing from local author Jamie Orr. His novel, Jojo Unplugged, is the 2023 Winner for Best Romance (National Indie Excellence Awards).

The publishing business is rapidly changing. More than two out of every three new books is Indy-Published. Even as it becomes easier to self-publish, it also becomes increasingly difficult to get noticed among millions and millions of books.
Jamie will talk about his favorite tools for giving your book a professional look and feel, discuss the pros and cons of publishing exclusively on Amazon vs. “publishing wide,” and also welcome your questions.

Discussion Topic: Describe the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

Our lives are made up of stories.  The Remembering Together program offers seniors a unique opportunity to share with one another some of their memorable life stories. These stories are often a source of encouragement, mutual appreciation, perspective, and a sense of connection.  Of course, there are also times when a story gives everyone a good laugh.

Please join The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester and the Manchester City Library for a conversational group at the Senior Center on Mondays at 10:30am, December 11 & 18, January 8 & 29, February 12. Virtual attendance is also available!

Remembering Together

Discussion Topic: What hobby or activity makes you lose track of time?
