Teen Volunteering- Operation Gratitude

Calling all teens! Do you need volunteer hours? This month we will be participating in Operation Gratitude. Teens are encouraged to write letters or create cards for members of our military, veterans, or first responders. Bring completed letters to the Children's Department by May 20th, and we will mail them for you.

All patrons in grades 7 through 12 are welcome to participate. Each teen will need to fill out a volunteer application when they submit their letter or card. We will give teens one hour of volunteer time per letter they deliver to us, with a maximum number of five volunteer hours for the month. 

For more information on how to write your letters, what to write about, who they will be sent to, or if you have any other questions, please email maplkids@lmxac.org.

Open to patrons in grades 7-12.

Craft Supply Swap Donations!

We are holding a Craft Supply Swap on Saturday, May 21 from 9 am - 12 pm!

9 am - 10 am will be early admission for those who donate supplies!

Donations for the craft swap will only be accepted between Monday, May 16th - Friday, May 20th.  

Donation Guidelines:

  • All items should be clean and new or very gently used.
  • If items have been exposed to smoke or pet hair, they need to be labeled as such. This is especially important for fabric and yarn.
  • Please keep small items, like buttons and beads, or sets of items, like markers and pencils, bagged.
  • Small items should be bundled into clear bags and grouped by size, style, theme or color. Items should also have an accompanying description when the original packaging is absent.
  • Small tools are welcome, but please avoid bringing expensive and/or large machinery (NO sewing machines, die cutters, etc.)  Important! Tools should be in good working condition.
  • Fabric must be clean and dry, please package smaller scraps into gallon or sandwich bags.
  • Papers (such as scrapbook papers or books) should be clean and free of water damage.

Donation ideas:

Knitting needles, crochet hooks, fabric, buttons, trims, adult coloring books  (if only a couple pages are colored in), ribbons, clay, unopened paints, brushes, canvases, drawing supplies,  jewelry-making tools and supplies, embroidery thread, children's crafting kits, beads, fancy hole punches, yarn...anything  sitting in your craft corner/pile/closet that hasn't been used but could be great for the right person!

  •  The library has the right to refuse items.
  •  Anything left behind after the craft swap will be donated or kept for library programming.

Enter our friend code, SW-8337-1648-3203, and fly over to see MAPL Cove. We will have some free items for you to take, you can visit our library spaces, meet our villagers, and shake our fruit trees. Do you have things you would like to donate to the library island? We have a spot where you can drop them off too!
