Do you have a favorite piece of clothing that needs a little TLC?  Do you need help mending something you know has a little more life left in it?  If yes, this is the workshop for you.  On Saturday February 24 from 10:30am to 12pm, stop by the Makerspace of the Medway Public Library and we will help you mend your special item.   We have all of the tools you will need (sewing machines, needles, threads, fabrics and more).  With a little bit of effort, the life of your clothing can be extended. The Real Score: Unraveling Myths About Trans People in Sports w/ Erin Reed
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

The Medway Public Library is excited to partner with a cohort of nearly 50 public libraries in Massachusetts and New Hampshire to host journalist Erin Reed for a virtual presentation titled "The Real Score: Unraveling Myths About Trans People in Sports" on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:00 PM on Zoom.

In this presentation, we will explore the complex and often misunderstood world of transgender athletes in sports. Delving into the history and current controversies, we will address the myths and misinformation surrounding "biological advantages." We will also discuss the discriminatory nature of recent sports bans targeting transgender individuals, and interrogate how similar arguments have been historically used to marginalize other minority groups. We will look at the real world impact of these sports bans, and how they might touch places you didn't think about. Finally, we'll put it all together in considering what transgender inclusion means for society at large.

About the presenter: Erin Reed (she/her) is a transgender journalist based in Washington, D.C. She tracks LGBTQ+ legislation around the United States for her subscription newsletter, Erin In The Morning. Her work has been cited by the APReutersThe New York TimesThe Washington Post, and many more major media outlets. You can follow her on twitter and tiktok @ErinInTheMorn.

Register directly on Zoom HERE.

Registrants will receive a link to access the Zoom webinar via email from Tewksbury Public Library. Please note that this presentation will NOT be recorded. ACCESSIBILITY NOTE: The event organizers do not discriminate on the basis of disability and are committed to providing a reasonable modification to participate in this event. Contact your local participating library at least two weeks before the event to arrange for a modification.
