Virtual Listen, Imagine, Create! is a pre-recorded book and craft/science/activity for kids between the ages of 6-8.  Any materials needed for the activities will be posted and many times the items will be readily available at home.  Once you create or do the activity, feel free to take a picture and send to us at cr@mhl.org so we can share on our web and social media pages. 
This session of Listen, Imagine Create! will be hosted by Miss Kim.  She will be sharing the new book When I Draw a Panda by Amy June Bates.  The

Virtual Goofy Crafts

Join in as we put together a "goofy" craft!  This session will be hosted by Miss Kim.  During this session we will be creating a "goofy" turkey!  The items you will need to make this craft are...a paper plate, a piece of heavy paper (like the front of a cereal or cracker box), crayons or markers (especially the colors brown, orange, and red), a skein of multicolored yarn or string, googly eyes (2), scissors, tape, and glue.

Virtual Meeting - Dementia Dialogues

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the group will meet virtually via Zoom. Email Emily Kearns for details.

A monthly discussion group for anyone and everyone wanting to discuss dementia, including caregivers/care partners and people living with dementia. Facilitated by Emily Kearns, PhD, MBA, RMT. Emily’s personal experience care partnering with her parents, who both lived with dementia, was life-changing, catapulting her into what is now her first love—reframing dementia and supporting those who live with it. Emily is committed to change-making, including innovative programming and community education, so that individuals living with dementia may continue to live well, experiencing joy and meaningful engagement in communities that support and celebrate them and the life they choose.  Emily facilitates a monthly memory-making café and a weekly dementia-supportive fitness program at her local Y.

Is it Bedtime Yet? A Virtual Discussion about Achieving Better Sleep

Dr. Madden’s presentation is designed to provide the audience with an understanding of the basic science of sleep, tips to improve sleep, and information about a specialized treatment for clinical insomnia.

Dr. Kate Madden is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides individual psychotherapy to adults and older adults.  She is a graduate of the University of Hartford’s Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology. Her clinical experience includes providing treatment at a college mental health center, a long-term psychiatric hospital, and a medical center for Veterans.  Dr. Madden has expertise in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, insomnia, and issues central to women’s mental health. She currently serves the Merrimack Valley and beyond in a private practice located in North Andover.

Avoiding Fraud & Scams: A Virtual Panel

Fraud and scams have become entirely too commonplace, especially with the increase in online transactions, social media and smartphone technology. Learn how to protect yourself from many of the schemes devised by fraudsters and scammers in this panel discussion hosted by the Andover Senior Mentors, Roland Jacobson, Jeff Kaplan and Don Schroeder.

About the Presenters:

Prema Nagathan is the Senior Vice President and Security Director at Enterprise Bank. She oversees the bank’s physical security and fraud Investigations. A Certified Fraud Examiner, she is an active member of the Financial Elder Abuse Task Force in NH and MA. She serves as the Chair of the Lowell Area Board for the Department of Children and Families and is a Co-Chair of the Merrimack Valley Financial Crimes Network.

Edmund Donnelly currently serves as the Director of External Affairs, State Legislative and Regulatory Affairs for AT&T Services, Inc. In this role, he facilitates all of the public policy advocacy of the company at all levels of state government for Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He also leads municipal engagement on permitting and siting issues related to wireless technology. He also leads AT&T’s community engagement efforts to bring training sessions to local senior centers across Massachusetts to teach seniors and others how to avoid consumer scams and develop their skills with technology.
 
Prior to AT&T, Edmund served as the Deputy Director of the Massachusetts Broadband Institute, a state quasi-public agency working in partnership with the Administration of Governor Charlie Baker to expand access to broadband in 54 communities in western and north central Massachusetts. He also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney General from 2010-2015, serving in the Trial Division and in the Policy & Government Division. He served as a Special Assistant District Attorney in the Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court. Edmund started his career in the Massachusetts legislature, where he worked from 2004-2010, including while attending law school, holding various staff positions for two members of the Democratic leadership of the House of Representatives.

In this Zoom webinar, you'll join Mass Audubon naturalist Scott Santino to learn about the joys of winter bird feeding. We’ll discuss feeder types, the best seed to put in them, the birds they’ll attract, how to outsmart squirrels, and other ways to encourage birdlife into your yard and community. Scott Santino is the Naturalist at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield where he has been leading nature education programs for Mass Audubon since 1999. He coordinates the sanctuary’s volunteer Nature Guide program, training adults in natural history interpretation and is a faculty member of Mass Audubon’s Birder’s Certificate Program, a college level ornithology class.
