Celebration of the Seasons, an exhibition of the photography of Debora S. Bruno, will be on display for the month of May, with an opening reception on May 6, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
Debora Bruno describes Celebration of the Seasons as a selection of photographs that incorporates different styles from black and white to infrared, through traditional color film to digital images. She feels that beauty is not only found in daily subjects such as flowers, sunrises, seascapes and such, but also can be explored and discovered through simple subjects and such textured elements as old leaves, architecture, snap shots from friends, still life objects such as cups and apples, and the list goes on.
The artist appreciates art in general styles. Her love for photgraphy is one of the most important aspects of her life. Her work includes portrait, still life, nature and scenery in black and white, infrared, color and computer enhanced photography. Landscapes and architecture are her favorites. She tries to capture the best quality of light as possible.
Debora Bruno has exhibited in many places, including Brookdale Community College, Guild of Creative Art, Art Alliance, Freehold Art Society, Monmouth Museum, and the County Clerk's Office in Freehold. She has also had her work published in Collage Magazine and received honorable mentionsin the MCAC Juried Art Show in 2003 and the Student Art Show at Brookdale Community College in 2005 and 2006. She was awarded First Place for best alternative category for her piece titled "Empire State Building" at the juried show Open Eyesights in March 2007 and First Place in the 15th Juried Art show at the Guild of Creative Art in October 2007.
Meet the Artist at a reception on Saturday, May 6th, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

A Novel Idea: Virtual Book Discussion - Crying in H Mart: A Memoir by Michelle Zauner
With humor and heart, Michelle Zauner tells of growing up one of the few Asian American kids at her school in Oregon; of struggling with her mother's expectations; of a painful adolescence; of treasured months spent in her grandmother's tiny apartment in Seoul. It was her mother's diagnosis of terminal cancer, when Michelle was 25, that forced a reckoning with her identity and brought her to reclaim the gifts of taste, language, and history her mother had given her.

Celebrate Juneteenth with an invigorating conversation with award-winning author Sadeqa Johnson as she talks about her brand new novel, The House of Eve!
In The House of Eve, Fifteen-year-old Ruby Pearsall is on track to becoming the first in her family to attend college, in spite of having a mother more interested in keeping a man than raising her daughter. But a taboo love affair threatens to pull her back down into the poverty and desperation that has been passed onto her like a birthright.
Eleanor Quarles arrived in Washington DC with ambition and secrets. When she meets the handsome William Pride at Howard University, they fall madly in love. But William hails from one of DC’s elite wealthy Black families, and his parents don’t just let anyone into their fold. Eleanor hopes that a baby will make her finally feel at home in William’s family and grant her the life she’s been searching for, but having a baby—and fitting in—is easier said than done.
The lives of these two women collide in the most unexpected way as they both face life altering decisions. The House of Eve is a fast-paced, harrowing story that hinges on what it means to be a woman and a mother, and how much one is willing to sacrifice to achieve her greatest goal.
