The Shrewsbury Historical Society and the Monmouth County Library Eastern Branch invite you to view a new exhibit of more than four dozen vintage dolls from the collection of the Shrewsbury Historical Society, currently on display in the library lobby.
Included in the exhibit, you will find a vintage assortment of Madame Alexander Dolls from the Judi & Stuart Buncher Collection, Santon French Provincial terracotta dolls from the Mayor Don Burden collection, a variety of dolls gifted to the Shrewsbury Historical Society by Marilynne W. Stout, a Wedding March doll from the Gorham Collection gifted by Elizabeth "Beth" Sweeney, an assortment of vintage family childhood dolls gifted by Janet Dill, a 1950s Wedding Dress doll gifted by Delia Benevides, and a collection of Storybook Dolls from 1936-1960 from the Mary Lea Burden collection.

Dr. Eckel, who has been working with native plants for over 35-years and founded a mail-order native-plant nursery, will cover topics such as seed dormancy, seed treatments, winter sowing, care of seedlings, transplanting, along with many other techniques and tricks. The second half of the workshop will be hands-on, and participants will leave the program with a tray of planted seeds.

New! Writers Workshop -- In Person at the Eastern Branch
Looking for a supportive environment to practice and explore your writing style? Excerpts of published works, both old and new, are shared to serve as models of strong writing and to inspire participants to craft their own style. The facilitator, Molly Fox, provides a choice of prompts for a 20-30 minute quick write. Writers are invited (but no pressure!) to share their resulting work and offer gentle suggestions and feedback to their fellow writers. All are welcome!
Molly Fox, MS Ed, is a Reading Specialist, writing instructor, and certified yoga teacher. She has facilitated writing groups at Brookdale Community College and has participated in writing workshops at local libraries and educational events. She is looking forward to being part of a supportive community of writers.
Meetings are planned for the second Friday of the month, through June. A second meeting per month may be added, depending on interest.

The Great Believers is a dazzling novel of friendship and redemption in the face of tragedy and loss set in the 1980s. The novel alternates between the stories of a group of friends -- most of them gay men diagnosed with AIDS -- in Chicago during the mid-80s to the early 90s, and the story of a woman searching for her estranged daughter in Paris, thirty years later.

New! Writers Workshop -- In Person at the Eastern Branch
Looking for a supportive environment to practice and explore your writing style? Excerpts of published works, both old and new, are shared to serve as models of strong writing and to inspire participants to craft their own style. The facilitator, Molly Fox, provides a choice of prompts for a 20-30 minute quick write. Writers are invited (but no pressure!) to share their resulting work and offer gentle suggestions and feedback to their fellow writers. All are welcome!
Molly Fox, MS Ed, is a Reading Specialist, writing instructor, and certified yoga teacher. She has facilitated writing groups at Brookdale Community College and has participated in writing workshops at local libraries and educational events. She is looking forward to being part of a supportive community of writers.
Meetings are planned for the second Friday of the month, through June. A second meeting per month may be added, depending on interest.
