Find Your Voice Community Art Show

Calling all artists! Find Your Voice this summer in a community-wide Art Show! Submit a piece of original art to the library, where it will be displayed during the summer. The community will vote for their favorites in 4 categories- children (0-12), teens (13-19), adults/amateur (20+) and adults/advanced (20+). All types of artwork are accepted, from painting and drawing to fabrics and sculpture. 

To enter, submit an entry form with your piece of artwork by June 17th to the library. Forms can be picked up at the library or downloaded from our website. An opening  reception will be held on Friday, June 23rd at 3:00 p.m. At the conclusion of the show in early August, we will hold an ice cream social to name the winners of the show and hand out prizes.

Young Scientists with STEM Beginnings

Join us for a 6-week STEM series facilitated by STEM Beginnings. Children, ages 3-6, with a parent/caregiver, will learn STEM (Science,  Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts through hands-on activities, a story, and simple experiments. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to help their child and join in the fun. Siblings are welcome. All children, ages 3-6, (and siblings) must be registered to attend class.

Virtual Guided Meditation Practice

Join us for a 30-minute guided meditation to create some space in the day to rest and recover.

Sessions will be offered on Wednesdays from 12pm- 12:30pm and will be offered virtually. 

Types of meditations that will be offered include:

  • Breath awareness practice
  • Body scan meditations
  • Open awareness practice
  • Lovingkindness/Gratitude practice

The sessions will be led by Joanna Graham.

Registration is required (zoom link provided after completing registration).

Joanna Graham completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) level one teacher training through the Mindfulness Center at Brown University and has held a personal meditation practice for the past 5 years.  Creating space in the day to practice has proven to be challenging at times but also extremely worthwhile.  The intent of these guided meditation sessions is to set a weekly mark on the calendar to create a little space to just...be!

Narcan Training

Narcan is the brand name of the generic naloxone and is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids - including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription medications - when given in time.

This Free Narcan training will provide participants with a brief training on how to recognize an opioid overdose, when and how to use Narcan, and a free kit to take home. The kit includes:

  • 2 doses of Narcan
  • Fentanyl test strips with instructions
  • Face shield
  • Instructions on Narcan administration
  • Recovery resource guide

This training is provided by clinicians within the Greater Boroughs Partnership for Health and will be held in the meeting room at the Northborough Library.

Minecraft: Civil Engineering

Join us for an awesome Minecraft program presented by TD3 Innovative Gaming! Work together to draw power from a nearby lighthouse to power an island and enable a drainage system. Clear and construct tunnels to begin designing your own city! This is part 1 of a 2 part program. The second program takes place on June 29th and registration covers both dates. This program is open to kids entering grades 4-7 in the fall and registration is required.  Participants are not required to have their own Minecraft account to participate.  Participants are asked to bring their own device (laptops prefered, no gaming systems) with Minecraft already loaded on them to participate.  If you need assistance loading Minecraft on to your device please contact Bonny at the Teen Desk.  The library has a limited number of devices available for this program.  If you are not able to bring your own device please indicate this during registration.

Teen Self-Empowerment Workshop @ the Southborough Library

This workshop combines movement and breath work with journaling and conversation.  Taught by fitness instructor Ashley Mitchell, founder of Courage Campaign, teens will be led through a series of exercises designed to give them tools to navigate everyday challenges, and foster personal development, confidence, and excellence. 

This workshop is for all levels and requires no equipment other than a yoga mat.  This program is being co-run with the Southborough Library and will take place on the main floor of the Southborough Library. Virtual Office Workout Series

Do you intend to work out, but don’t get to it because you’re too tired after a long day of work?  Workout at work!  Join us for this fun and active virtual program where we will be participating in exercises as we learn about the health benefits and how to squeeze exercises into our busy lifestyle.  There are many benefits of incorporating exercises and stretching into your workday, some of which include:  increased energy, decreased stress, decreased risk of injury, increased mind/body connection, increased bone and muscle mass, increased metabolism and many more, so sign up today!  No experience necessary.  All levels are welcome.

Narcan Training

Narcan is the brand name of the generic naloxone and is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids - including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription medications - when given in time.

This Free Narcan training will provide participants with a brief training on how to recognize an opioid overdose, when and how to use Narcan, and a free kit to take home. The kit includes:

  • 2 doses of Narcan
  • Fentanyl test strips with instructions
  • Face shield
  • Instructions on Narcan administration
  • Recovery resource guide

This training is provided by clinicians within the Greater Boroughs Partnership for Health and will be held in the meeting room at the Northborough Library.
