Writers: bring your works electronically or in hard copy. We’ll go through basic websites to find journals plus a list of journals that might be appropriate for all works (poetry, short stories, memoirs, etc.). We will log onto Submittable to learn how to navigate the most-used submission website. Then we will submit! Lunch will be served—then stay for the Poetry & Prose!

Lecture: South Africa from Apartheid to Democracy
Join Dr. Grant Saff, Professor of Global Studies and Geography from Hofstra University, for a lecture on South Africa. This talk will provide background to explain how South Africa moved toward the ending of apartheid, and that the talk of the “miracle” was a simplification of the actual process that in turn unfairly raised the expectations that many people had for the “new” South Africa.
