1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Birth - Entering Kindergarten. Online registration required.  After registration, come to the Children's Room to get your materials to begin! Read any book to your child. You can read the same book multiple times. Storytime books count too! Color in one dot per book on your chart. When the chart is filled return it to a Children's Room Staff member for a prize and start your next chart. Your child will receive a certificate of completion and more special prizes when they complete and submit their final chart of 1000 books! A current email address and phone number are required when registering, otherwise the registration is considered incomplete.

There are many spaces available.

Plainedge School District students entering grades 6th & up as of this September can receive community service credit by emailing video or written book review submissions to Children's Services at kids@plainedgelibrary.org

  • Our Volunteer Book Review program is currently on going.
  • Review a book between grade levels K through 8th.
  • Email submissions to Children's Services at kids@plainedgelibrary.org
  • A first & last name as well as an email address is required with the submission in order for us to give credit.
  • The student will receive 1 hour of community service credit for each book review submitted, maximum 2 book reviews per week.
