To celebrate NASA's 60 years of achievement and its celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, the 2019 Summer Library Program (SLP) is space themed! The Plumb program blasts off on June 21 and ends August 10. Online registration for ALL AGES is required.  Adults or Young Adults (aged 14+) can REGISTER below or on www.plumblibrary.com from 5:30 pm on May 23 until 11:30 pm on July 31.  This is a free program thanks to many state and local sponsors.

Mission completion also earns participants prizes and invitations to special celebrations. Plus, all youth participants are entered into the Boston Bruins "When You Read, You Score" contest.  Adult program registrants receive a ticket to enter into a prize drawing. Online registration AND participation are required to earn all program rewards and awards

SLP: A Universe of Stories Fly Me to the Moon! Ages 9+

Welcome back Roger Menard from the Astronomical Society of Southern New England(ASSNE) for his Fly Me To The Moon presentation!  Apollo 11 landed on the Moon almost exactly 50 years ago (July 20th 1969).  Samples of the Moon returned to Earth by NASA astronauts changed what we know about the Moon.  This presentation will expand upon what we know about the Moon.

It will answer questions like: where did the Moon come from, why is the Moon so large in our night sky, what is the ‘man in the Moon’, why do we always see only one side of the Moon, what is a Lunar eclipse, how does the Moon impact life on Earth, etc.  Along the way we will discuss facts and myths related to the Moon!  Weather permitting, an attempt will be made to view the moon with a with a telescope!

THIS PROGRAM IS FOR YOUTH AGED 9 AND UP ONLY!   REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

SLP: A Universe of Stories Out of this World Singing Circle! Ages 0-5

Register to meet  Ms. Rhonda Matson, Director of South Coast Music Together @ Plumb Library and experience a unique  program developed just for us and our summer theme!  Rhonda founded South Coast Music Together in 2003, and has since brought music making fun to hundreds of families in our community!

In these special Singing Circles, you will take a Rocketship to the moon, and Catch the Moon too!  You will share the wonder of that perennial favorite, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, venture out to Swing on a Star, and see if moonbeams can be carried in a jar!  This experience is for both caregiver and child, so grown ups and little ones will join in the musical play together.  There will be four classes- July 10, 17, 24, and 31.  It is OK if you can not attend them all!

These classes are designed for young children (0-5 years) and their caregivers. Space is limited to 12 children.  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for each class by date.
