SLP: A Universe of Stories Adult and Young Adult Program Registration (Closes 7.31)

To celebrate NASA's 60 years of achievement and its celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, the 2019 Summer Library Program (SLP) is space themed! The Plumb program blasts off on June 21 and ends August 10. Online registration for ALL AGES is required.  Adults or Young Adults (aged 14+) can REGISTER below or on www.plumblibrary.com from 5:30 pm on May 23 until 11:30 pm on July 31.  This is a free program thanks to many state and local sponsors. 

By registering, you will be joining Team Plumb to complete library and home-based missions, record them on a mission log, and then report your progress to the library as your schedule permits.  Each mission completed earns one color tile for the Space StickTogether Mosaic. This year, we are Sticking-Together to complete the Space Mosaic for the Old Colony Robotics Team. A donation will be made to the team to purchase materials needed to build the robots used at the competitions if we complete the mosaic. Mission completion also earns participants prizes and invitations to special celebrations. Plus, all youth participants are entered into the Boston Bruins "When You Read, You Score" contest.  Adult program registrants receive a ticket to enter into a prize drawing. Online registration AND participation are required to earn all program rewards and awards

During the Apollo program of the 1960s and '70s, NASA sent nine missions to the Moon. They're back!  The RMS Tuesdays with Teachers Team will be landing at Plumb again this summer to share their talents.  From July 9 through August 6, an  RMS teacher will read a book and complete an activity with students.  This program is geared to children aged 4 and up.   Registration for each individual session is required.  Each registration earns you a both a log and mosaic sticker!

SLP: A Universe of Stories Toto the Tornado Kitten! All Ages!

As part of a "South Coast Tour" come meet Jonathan Hall and his furry friend Toto, the cat!  Jonathan is the author of Toto the Tornado Kitten!  Jonathan will read his book, and will bring copies to sign and sell.  All proceeds go to local animal rescue groups!   He also brings Toto and all the kids get to pet him!   

Jonathan is a paramedic and rescued a kitten after a tornado tore through Brimfield a few years ago,  He adopted the kitten, wrote a book about him, and now brings Toto to libraries around the state.  While Jonathan reads, Toto sits beside him in a chair.  Every child, who wants to, gets to pat Toto before they leave.  Jonathan has two books available at a cost of $10 each and he inscribes each one very personally and endearingly.  The proceeds go to Massachusetts animal shelters and he has raised $60,000 for that cause.    Space limited.  Registration required.

SLP: A Universe of Stories Out of this World Singing Circle! Ages 0-5

Register to meet  Ms. Rhonda Matson, Director of South Coast Music Together @ Plumb Library and experience a unique  program developed just for us and our summer theme!  Rhonda founded South Coast Music Together in 2003, and has since brought music making fun to hundreds of families in our community! 

In these special Singing Circles, you will take a Rocketship to the moon, and Catch the Moon too!  You will share the wonder of that perennial favorite, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, venture out to Swing on a Star, and see if moonbeams can be carried in a jar!  This experience is for both caregiver and child, so grown ups and little ones will join in the musical play together.  There will be four classes- July 10, 17, 24, and 31.  It is OK if you can not attend them all! 

These classes have been funded by the Rochester Police Brotherhood! 

These classes are designed for young children (0-5 years) and their caregivers. Space is limited to 12 children.  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for each class by date.

SLP: A Universe of Stories Space Themed Yoga for Kids-Ages 5-9

Yogi Lisa is the owner of Sonshine Yoga. She has many different classes available to meet a variety of learning styles. To complement the summer library program theme,Yogi Lisa has created Space Themed Yoga to be held every other Thursday on June 27, July 11, July 25, and August 7.    

in this 4 week series, children will  blast off into outer space with this fun and engaging yoga class. Be ready to greet the sun, breathe, and stretch as we take a journey through the universe with songs, games, and stories. Children will work on strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and cooperation during this energizing,yet relaxing, yoga practice. Join Teen Jr. Friend of the Library, Ms. Brenna, for a space engineering program for kids aged 8 and up.  VCR’s to Spacecars is a 3 week program with each session being 90 minutes long.  Classes will be held on July 11, 18 and 25. Each child takes apart an electronic device such as a VCR or a computer tower.  They then use supplied materials to make a battery powered car. Once they finish with the basics, then they can decorate the car with the materials from the device they took apart, or race their cars. It is preferred that children sign-up for all 3 classes, but there is flexibility.  Email Ms. Lisa with questions about registration.

All materials and tools will be supplied thanks to the Friends of Plumb Library.  Registration is required for youth aged 8 and up ONLY! Space is limited to 10 students. NOTE:  Signing up for all 3 weeks is ideal to complete all project steps.

This group started in August of 2018, and meets (usually) either the first or last Friday of a month.  Registration is required!  Contact Ms. Lisa for more information. The BookBuds have selected books to be discussed through September  2019.

Books will be ordered for the group by the library.  At every meeting, the following month's selection will be available for check out.  Discussion questions will be included with book. Readers are tasked with selecting a question they will talk about at the meeting.

Books will be ordered for the group by the library.  At every meeting, the following month's selection will be available for check out.  Discussion questions will be included with book. Readers are tasked with selecting a question they will talk about at the meeting.

SLP: A Universe of Stories Tuesdays with Teachers Ages 4+

They're back!  The RMS Tuesdays with Teachers Team will be landing at Plumb again this summer to share their talents.  From July 9 through August 6, an  RMS teacher will read a book and complete an activity with students.  This program is geared to children aged 4 and up.   Registration for each individual session is required.  Each registration earns you a both a log and mosaic sticker! 

Schedule:  July 9: Solar Sollauer, 1 PM.   July 16: Celestial Cyr, 10:30 AM.  July 23: Nuclear Nellie, 10:30 AM.   July 30: Astronomical Alves, 10:30 AM.   Augut 6: Buzz Weigel, 10:30 AM.

Last Day to register AND to turn in completed mission logs.  If you have been participating in either the Youth or the Adult/Young Adult program but have not signed up or completed a mission log,  you must do so TODAY!   A completed  log is due TODAY by library closing at 6 pm to be eligible for an invitation to the Ice Cream Social at Captain Bonney's on August 3 and a free ticket to the Summer Reader PawSox game on August 16.  The registration link closes at 11:30 pm.   SORRY NO EXCEPTIONS!

SLP: A Universe of Stories Out of this World Singing Circle! Ages 0-5

Register to meet  Ms. Rhonda Matson, Director of South Coast Music Together @ Plumb Library and experience a unique  program developed just for us and our summer theme!  Rhonda founded South Coast Music Together in 2003, and has since brought music making fun to hundreds of families in our community! 

In these special Singing Circles, you will take a Rocketship to the moon, and Catch the Moon too!  You will share the wonder of that perennial favorite, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, venture out to Swing on a Star, and see if moonbeams can be carried in a jar!  This experience is for both caregiver and child, so grown ups and little ones will join in the musical play together.  There will be four classes- July 10, 17, 24, and 31.  It is OK if you can not attend them all! 

These classes have been funded by the Rochester Police Brotherhood! 

These classes are designed for young children (0-5 years) and their caregivers. Space is limited to 12 children.  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for each class by date.
