Bill Handwerker, the grandson of the “Original Nathan” will be at the library to discuss his book, “Nathan’s Famous: The First 100 Years of America’s Favorite Frankfurter Company.” As a teenager, Bill worked at the Coney Island and Oceanside restaurants and after college joined the family business. In “Nathan’s Famous,” Handwerker celebrates his grandfather’s entrepreneurial spirit and his legacy in creating an American institution. He offers insight into the family behind the business and their journey from Poland to Coney Island to restaurant locations around the world.

Afterward, we will enjoy Ragtime, the epic musical adaptation of E.L. Doctorow’s classic novel. The worlds of a wealthy white couple, a Jewish immigrant father and his daughter, and an African American ragtime musician intertwine in this sweeping musical about America’s Golden Age when our nation was mixing, boiling, and changing. Lunch is on your own. First come, first served. Each person on line may register for one other person. Seaford Library/School District residents only on the first day of registration. Pay by check only to the Seaford Public Library.
