Fourth Tuesday Book Group

The Fourth Tuesday Book Group is an informal gathering featuring an open discussion of each selected title and author. An effort should be made to read each book prior to the meeting. The Book Group meets at 7:00 p.m. in a meeting room at the Sewickley Public Library. New members are always welcome. You are invited to attend one particular evening or to join us for the series.

This one-hour session is a discussion led by a Dementia Friends Champion. It is not a training session. You’ll learn what dementia is, what it’s like to live with the disease, and some tips for communicating with people living with dementia. Everyone who attends is asked to turn their new understanding of dementia into a practical action that can help someone living in your community. The action can be as big or as small as you choose- every action counts. The same session will be repeated in the morning and afternoon.

Watershed Awareness/Rain Barrel Workshop
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Workshop participants will learn how to harvest rainwater from their roofs, store it, and use it in the landscape. They also learn how to reduce their contribution to combined sewer overflow (CSO), flooding, and polluted urban runoff by learning how to practice watershed protection and conservation in their own backyards. It’s easier than you think!

PRC’s Watershed Awareness/Rain Barrel Workshop raises awareness of watershed issues, demonstrates how to install a 55-gallon rain barrel, and introduces other rainwater harvesting options.

Participants will also receive a FreeGarden RAIN 55-gallon rain barrel. Designed with the homeowner/gardener in mind, it is affordable, attractive, and easy to install.

Cost: $80/person and $85/couple

This program is presented by the Pennsylvania Resources Council.

Take a Wise Walk

Get ready for more activity and fun with our Wise Walkers group! Now in it’s 20th season, the sessions run every week from April - October. Wise Walks is ideal for active 50+ adults who are interested in a lively and social exercise program. The group meets in the library every Thursday morning and walks between 1-3 miles and return to the library to enjoy a healthy snack. There is no need to sign up and new walkers are always welcome!
