Curbside Craft Club: Grab 'n' Go Kits (Ages 9-13) - For Week of November 2nd Pick-up

Featured Craft: Fall Button Tree Art!  Create a beautiful autumn tree with buttons, glue, and a bit of paint!

For the months of November and December, Miss Allison will offer a limited number of grab 'n' go craft kits for kids ages 9-13 to take home.

Due to the overwhelming positive response from families asking for kits this fall, the registration process has slightly changed to allow all families a chance to participate.  We're trying something new with the registration process for November and December, so please be patient as we work out the details.

1. Kits are available through email registration only. To register, email Miss Allison at ariendeau@ocln.org with the number of kits you are requesting and the child/children’s name(s).

2. Registration for the next week's craft will open every Monday. For example, you would email Miss Allison starting Monday, November 2nd, to pick up a kit for week of November 9-14th.

3. You will receive an email response confirming your registration.

4. Then, if you opt for curbside pick-up, sign up for a curbside time slot any time during the designated week and write "KIDCRAFT" in after your last name in the last name field of the curbside sign-up form.  (You may also pick up your kit inside the library during open hours.)

The grab 'n' go kits include most of the supplies needed to complete the projects and instructions (sometimes including links to online and/or video instructions).

Participants are encouraged to share their finished crafts by sending photos to ariendeau@ocln.org or sharing on social media and tagging Sharon Public Library.

  • Grab n go kits are popular! If you email Miss Allison and there are no more kits available that week she will put you first on the list for the next week's craft. You be notified by email if this happens.

*Please note that Miss Allison makes every effort to provide awesome kits to as many kids/families as possible. Supplies are limited, so we ask that you limit your request to 1 kit per child.

Curbside Delivery Block 1
11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Curbside Delivery Block 1

While the Sharon Public Library is now open for limited patron browsing, we are continuing to offer our popular curbside delivery service as an alternative way to pick up library materials. The service will be the same as in Phase 2. For the full FAQ on our Phase 3 curbside delivery, please see our longer Q&A here. A quick summary:

1) Place your holds online via the OCLN catalog, or by calling 781-784-1578. If you call the library, please be aware it may take a while for library staff to respond. Phone lines will be busy, and staff will be managing operations in the building simultaneously. We thank you in advance for your patience.
Don't know what to request? Use our Reader's Advisory form to request a library staff member place materials on hold for you based on your selected criteria.

2) Wait until you receive a notice that your materials are ready; then, select a time slot for curbside delivery at the library's Eventkeeper calendarBased on patron and staff feedback, we are reverting to the curbside pickup procedures used in Phase 2. (We apologize for any confusion this may cause.) You will be required to select a specific time for pickup of library materials.

3) Please arrive on time to your curbside delivery time. A library staff member will exit the building with your materials, and verbally confirm your identity. The library staff member will then leave your library materials on the available table. Once the library staff member has safely re-entered the building, you may exit your vehicle and retrieve your materials. They will already be checked out to you.

Please observe all social distancing requirements as you collect your materials; and make sure that you are taking the correct bag (with your name on it), as there may be more than one bag of materials on the table at times.

For all other questions, please refer to the SPL Curbside Delivery FAQ. And thank you in advance for helping to make curbside delivery safe for staff and patrons alike!

Halloween Kids Baking & Cooking Club: Ages 8+: Reese's Bats & Dracula Dentures
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

This week is more about making art than baking! We'll be using store bought candy, cookies, frosting, marshmallows, and food coloring to create Halloween treats.

Reese's Bats from Delish: https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a56043/reeses-bats-recipe/

Dracula Dentures from Delish: https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a55668/dracula-dentures-recipe/

I'm planning on buying chocolate chip cookies for the Dracula Dentures, to make this a no-bake, messy, fun week. Feel free to make your own and have them cooled and ready to go for class.

Here are the ingredients for both recipes as I plan to do them in class:

10 mini Reese's cups, 5 oreos, 20 candy eyes, 1 tablespoon of peanut butter, 1 box of chocolate chip cookies, 1 can white store bought frosting, red food coloring, mini marshmallows, and slivered almonds.

Please just register one time for this program to receive the weekly email, which will include the Zoom link.

[Virtual] DIY Kombucha Workshop w/ the Grounded Goodwives
6:30 PM - 7:45 PM

"Booch" flows at coffee shops and health food stores. It's become extremely trendy, but many people still don't know why it's good for them. Kombucha's bacteria--the good kind of bacteria--supports everything from immune function and mental health to nutrient absorption.

A 16-ounce bottle of store-bought kombucha averages about $4. Brewing your own costs about 6 cents per 16 ounces!

Learn how to make your own kombucha and about the importance of adding fermented foods to your diet in this virtual workshop with the Grounded Goodwives--Ehris Urban and Velya Jancz-Urban. Learn more about the presenters.

To register for this Zoom event, please email Assistant Director Miki Wolfe at mwolfe@ocln.org. Registration is required.

Virtual Trivia Night
8:00 PM - 9:30 PM

The Sharon Public Library is back with our biweekly Virtual Trivia Night! (Due to various holidays, the next couple of events will be slightly off of our usual biweekly schedule.)

Join us on Zoom and test your trivia mettle. Play solo, or with a team (virtually speaking!). For security purposes, participants' video will be disabled, so no need to worry about having a working webcam to play. The ability to view slides on a screen is all you need for fantastic trivia fun.

Please note: Trivia questions are geared toward adults in content and challenge rating.

This program will be offered via Zoom. If you're interested, please register by sending an email to Assistant Director Miki Wolfe at mwolfe@ocln.org. Registration is required (this extra step will add a layer of security for the event). You will be emailed a link to the meeting ahead of time. You should download Zoom, a free videoconferencing program, ahead of time.

Curbside Craft Club: Grab 'n' Go Kits (Ages 9-13) - For Week of November 16th Pick-up

Featured Craft: Autumn Owl Flag Craft!  Create a cheery fall flag featuring cute little owls!

2. Registration for the next week's craft will open every MondayFor example, you would email Miss Allison starting Monday, November 2nd, to pick up a kit for week of November 9-14th.

Curbside Craft Club: Grab 'n' Go Kits (Ages 9-13) - For Week of November 23rd Pick-up

Featured Craft: Thankful Cards!  Make and decorate spectacular cards to send to people you love & are grateful for!

2. Registration for the next week's craft will open every MondayFor example, you would email Miss Allison starting Monday, November 2nd, to pick up a kit for week of November 9-14th.

Curbside Delivery Block 2
3:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Curbside Delivery Block 2

Curbside Craft Club: Grab 'n' Go Kits (Ages 9-13) - For Week of November 30th Pick-up

Featured Craft: Cutout Collage Art!  Make a magnificent artwork with collage materials and animal-shaped cut-outs!

2. Registration for the next week's craft will open every MondayFor example, you would email Miss Allison starting Monday, November 2nd, to pick up a kit for week of November 9-14th.

Curbside Delivery Block 2

Curbside Delivery Block 2

Curbside Craft Club: Grab 'n' Go Kits (Ages 9-13) - For Week of December 7th Pick-up

Featured Craft: Snowman Cork Craft!  Create a little cork snowman to wear!

2. Registration for the next week's craft will open every MondayFor example, you would email Miss Allison starting Monday, November 2nd, to pick up a kit for week of November 9-14th.
