Join us for a cooking class meets book club series that will be hands-on and in-person for those who love to cook at home. During the class, participants will assist in creating a pre-selected dish from the chosen cookbook of the month. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to check out the selected cookbook ahead of time and to bring an accompanying dish from it to share. The main meal will be selected and shared at registration. Registration for this event is required with a limit of 10 participants (note: classes with 0-1 registrants will be canceled the day before the class).

The Highwaymen: Stories and Songs

Comic Zone! Make a Springfleld Comic Book

Get your comic published! Come your participating branch library to pick up templates and drawing pencils. Drop off your finished comic at your branch (with name, contact number and permission slip) before Nov. 30th. It will become part of a Springfield City Library comic book. Mindful Reading with Cadence the Dog

Calling all kids!  Come to a mindfulness experience for emerging and practiced readers of all ages.  The librarian will share  a few relaxing stories with you and our special guests Megan and her certified therapy dog Cadence.   After we read as a group, children are welcome to take a turn meeting Cadence and reading with her  - she loves to hear stories of all kinds.   Books will be available for read aloud or bring your own favorites.  Reading with a pet is a calming, stress-free way to build fluency and expression.  Please join us! We'll meet outside but move indoors to the Children's Room in case of bad weather. Children 7 and under must be accompanied and consistently supervised by an adult. Registration is strongly encouraged with drop-ins welcome as space allows.

Kristin Brennan, CPM, Springfield midwife, offers a one-day childbirth education class to families planning natural birth (whether it be at home or in the hospital).  The class covers the anatomy and physiology of birth, breathing methods, comfort measures (partners are very involved in this process), active labor and pushing, and early postpartum topics related to both parent and baby.  The class is an opportunity for learning but also naturally-focused birthing families a chance to connect with and encourage one another. Mindful Reading with Cadence the Dog

Calling all kids!  Come to a mindfulness experience for emerging and practiced readers of all ages.  The librarian will share  a few relaxing stories with you and our special guests Megan and her certified therapy dog Cadence.   After we read as a group, children are welcome to take a turn meeting Cadence and reading with her  - she loves to hear stories of all kinds.   Books will be available for read aloud or bring your own favorites.  Reading with a pet is a calming, stress-free way to build fluency and expression.  Please join us! We'll meet outside but move indoors to the Children's Room in case of bad weather. Children 7 and under must be accompanied and consistently supervised by an adult. Registration is strongly encouraged with drop-ins welcome as space allows.
