Tuesday Evening Book Discussion

Join us for our Tuesday Evening Book Discussion rescheduled to the fourth Tuesday this month! This month we are reading "Family Meal" by Bryan Washington.

"Cam is living in Los Angeles and falling apart after the love of his life has died. Kai's ghost won't leave Cam alone; his spectral visits wild, tender, unexpected, and explosive. When Cam returns to his hometown of Houston, he crashes back into the orbit of his former best friend, TJ, and TJ's family bakery. TJ's not sure how to navigate this changed Cam, impenetrably cool and self-destructing, or their charged estrangement. Can they find a way past all that has been said - and left unsaid - to save each other?"

Pick up a copy at the Reference Desk!

Tween Graphic Novel Book Chat

If you’re a fan of graphic novels and comics then this is the group for you. Chat with fellow fans about a new book each month. This month we will be discussing Nayra and the Djinn by Iasmin Omar Ata.

"Nothing is going right for Nayra Mansour. There's the constant pressure from her strict family, ruthless bullying from her classmates, and exhausting friendship demands from Rami -the only other Muslim girl at school. Nayra has had enough. Just when she's considering transferring schools to escape it all, a mysterious Djinn named Marjan appears.

As a djinn, a mythical being in Islamic folklore, Marjan uses their powers and wisdom to help Nayra navigate her overwhelming life. But Marjan's past is fraught with secrets, guilt, and trouble, and if they don't face what they've done, Nayra could pay the price."

We will be meeting in person at the Stevens Memorial Library.

Cookbook Club

Come discuss the cookbook "Binging With Babish: 100 Recipes Recreated from Your Favorite Movies and TV Shows" by Andrew Rea!

"The internet cooking show Binging with Babish has taken YouTube by storm with an astounding 3.3 million fans and views as high as 5 million per episode. For each video, Andrew Rea, a self-proclaimed movie and TV buff, teaches a recipe based on a favorite TV show or film, such as the babka from the classic Seinfeld episode, the beef bourguignon from Julie & Julia, or the timpano from Big Night. This cookbook includes these and other fan-favorite recipes. Some are so delicious that you’ll want to make them for dinner right away, like Bubba's shrimp from Forrest Gump, while others can be saved for impressing a loved one—like the chocolate lava cake from Jon Favreau’s Chef, which the actor/director asked to make during a guest appearance on Rea’s show. Complete with behind-the-scenes stories and answers to frequently asked fan questions, Binging with Babish is a must-have companion to the wildly popular YouTube show."

Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish from the book to share and we will eat as we discuss this month's book.

Stop by reference to pick up a copy. Cookbook Club is the first Wednesday of every month.

Join us in a professional forum for networking with peers in a safe and comfortable environment conducive to developing new relationships and developing skills and strategies to help in your career transition. Each meeting features a new topic. Meetings include a presentation and interactive workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, small group breakout rooms to network, and 1-on-1 coaching guidance. Participating on a regular basis will give job seekers the many tools and strategies needed for a successful job search.

Each biweekly meeting is facilitated by Deborah Hope, MBA, PCIC, an experienced executive career coach. Deborah is a former Fortune 500 executive, investment banker and entrepreneur. She transitioned to executive coaching over 12 years ago. Deborah has coached with Harvard Business School Executive Education programs and the Massachusetts Conference for Women. She has been trained or certified in a variety of coaching models and assessment tools. Deborah has facilitated 50+ job seekers networking groups since 2016.

This week's topic (June 12) is Marketing Plan. (Please note we're holding this meeting on the 2nd, not 3rd, Wednesday of the month due to Juneteenth.) Register directly on Zoom HERE.

This group is sponsored by more than 35 Massachusetts public libraries.

NOTE: This program will not be recorded.
