The Secrets of the Apps with Officer Rich Marsh
7:00 PM

Officer Rich Marsh has been an officer with the Woodbury Resident Trooper Office for over 12 years and he has served as a 5th Grade DARE program instructor for more than 10 years.  During his time as an officer, Officer Marsh has conducted several large scale investigations involving cellular phones and the apps that people use for nefarious reasons to include drug sales transactions, harassment, bullying, and threatening complaints.  The Secrets of the Apps program was created after an incident occurred at the Middle School involving several children and the SnapChat app.   After the incident was investigated, it was apparent that many parents were not fully aware of the dangers of this particular application, and many of those same parents wanted to be educated about the dangers of this and many other apps that are available to kids.  The program was created to give parents the information and resources that they need to make smart decisions about their child's cellular phone use.  The program has already been given 3 times in this town and is only growing in popularity.  It has been called eye-opening informative, and a must see presentation by parents who have attended.  The program is not only for parents, but also grandparents or anyone else caring for school-aged children.

The Nature of Mindful Living and Eating with Marlow Shami
7:00 PM

Join Marlow Shami, MS, as she presents her new nature based healing program at the library. Shami's presentation focuses on the food of life, found not only on our plates but also within five integral life areas. Sustenance is found within the quality of our rest, companionship, novelty, exercise, and outdoor nature time too.

Whether you are seeking a healthier weight, new friendship, strugging with depression, contending with a bully at work, or simply a wish to be outside more often, the obstacles preventing one from experiencing the change sought are found in the moment. Teh Nature of Mindful Eating and Living program is designed to provide the experience, information, and inspiration to help deepen participants' understanding and awareness of the challenges and benefits of cultivating mindfulness of the five food groups in daily life.

Featured Artist - Ron Crowcroft

Artist Ron Crowcroft displays Reverse Glass Paintings in our Gallery from November 1 – 30, with an opening reception on Saturday, November 2 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.

Examples of Reverse Glass Painting, or Hinterglasbilder, have been known since the late 14th century. Used mostly at that time in the decorative arts and by goldsmiths, it was also used by fine artists, as well as by amateur and folk artists. While the paint is applied to one surface of the glass, it is then viewed from the other side.

Ron Crowcroft is an English artist who works in a wide variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, performance art, conceptual art, video, experimental electronic music, poetry, and humor.

Ron has a degree in Fine Art from Leeds Polytechnic, in England, in 1976, which was at that time the most avant-garde art school in Europe, and the center for performance art in England. His photographs from that time are now on permanent display at the new Leeds University arts building, as part of a multi-media commission, THIN AIR, by Paul Rooney.
