Join Kathleen Titsworth from the Connecticut Department of Banking to learn the basics of credit. What is credit, and why do I need to establish good credit? What is the difference between a credit and a debit card? What is a credit report, and why do I need to know what is on mine? These questions and more are addressed in a discussion aimed at helping teens understand the importance of establishing good credit. This is a virtual program that will be held via Zoom. Registration begins October 15, online or by calling the library’s Reference Desk at 860-652-7720. Registration with a valid email address is required in order to receive login information on the day of the Zoom meeting.
For students in grades 9-12
The Welles-Turner Memorial Library is partnering with C2 Education to offer free, full-length, virtual practice tests for the ACT, SAT and PSAT for local high school students. On the day of the testing event, participants will receive a link via email that will bring them to a timed exam. After the exam is submitted, students will receive a score report with a comprehensive analysis of strengths and weaknesses via email. Registration is required; please sign up online here. For assistance, please call Reference at 860-652-7720.
Please note: Teens who attend multiple testing events are not guaranteed a unique exam each session.
