Charlotte Taylor will visit the library to discuss the archaeology of Glocester. She will begin with the thousands of years of Native American habitation of the land and move on to the historical archaeology of Glocester covering both the agricultural and industrial history of the town as manifested through old farm and mill sites.
Charlotte is an archaeologist at the Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission. Her duties take her far and wide in the state on land and also on sea. She maintains an inventory of the locations and conditions of the state’s shipwrecks, and she is the author of the book Rhode Island Shipwrecks, published in 2017.

Scotland Yard Superintendent Duncan Kincaid can’t even take a vacation without encountering suspicious deaths. Just over the border in southeastern Massachusetts lies the mysterious region known as the Bridgewater Triangle. Sightings of UFO’s, strange animals, Pukwudgies, and ghosts comprise just some of the puzzling occurrences reported by locals.
Paranormal researcher and investigator Andrew Lake will be in the library to share his research and experiences of this area. Lake is the author of Ghosthunting Southern New England and has been featured in such documentaries as The Legends of Dolly Cole and The Bridgewater Triangle. He also appeared on the History Channel's hit TV series, Beyond Skinwalker Ranch.
Advance registration is strongly recommended for this popular speaker. This program is suitable for adults and teens (14+).
Location: Steere Hill Conservation Area (we will meet in the parking lot almost directly across from Harmony Post Office PROMPTLY at 8:00 a.m.).
With cooler temperatures, the Walking Club will hold its fall “Super Walk.” We’ll start at Steere Hill Conservation Area, follow the trail to Heritage Park with its shepherd’s hut, and return to Steere Hill, enjoying the soft pine paths of the Cutter and Phillips Farm trails. We will take a look at the seasonal changes on the trail since our last visit during full summer. The “Super Walk” will be a little longer than the usual Walking Club outing – approximately 5 miles and 2 to 2 ½ hours long.
Wooded walking trails typically feature uneven paths with rocks and tree roots to maneuver.
Don’t forget to bring a water bottle and bug spray.

For the month of November, the Cookbook Club will explore recipes of the Middle East with Zaitoun : Recipes from the Palestinian Kitchen by Yasmin Khan and The Arabesque Table : Contemporary Recipes from the Arab World by Reem Kassis.
This is how the club works: every month, pick up a copy of that month’s cookbook selection at the library. Choose a recipe to make and prepare it for the next month’s meeting.
