Using Lego Mindstorms EV3 Base Sets & Software, explore the world of engineering by building complex automated control systems with sensory tools and code blocks. A registration fee of $50 for Port Jefferson Free Library cardholders is due when signing up, checks only please, payable to the Port Jefferson Free Library. In person registration for PJFL cardholders begins June 1 in the Teen Department. All others may register in person beginning July 2 in the Teen Department. In addition to learning to program, we will also be practicing team building and cooperation. Registration for PJFL cardholders begins June 1 in the Children’s Department. Sciencetellers - Wild West: The Mystery of the Golden Piano

After the Sheriff mysteriously vanishes, two young kids must saddle up to foil the great heist — but not before stopping a runaway train, escaping an abandoned mine shaft and discovering how a mysterious piano can play an ‘instrumental’ part in putting a rotten cowboy back behind bars.

Mindfullness Meditation

This program focuses on being in the present moment while learning how to use the breath as an anchor for the wandering mind. It is a simple way to be more in touch with the fullness of being through self-observation, self-inquiry and mindful action. Dynamic Kids: Where the Wild Things Rock

Mom & Baby Pilates

Ages: Adults with babies 6 weeks to pre-crawling

Spend special time bonding with your pre-crawler while safely and effectively strengthening your body. Pilates is an amazing exercise system that focuses on core strength, pelvic stability, proper postural alignment as well as balance, flexibility and overall mental wellbeing.  You'll have the option to involve your baby in the movements or have your baby close to you on your mat. Modifications will be made to accommodate for all fitness levels.

Please bring a mat for yourself and a thick blanket or mat for your baby to lay comfortably. Mom must have medical clearance to exercise.

Lego Jr. Camp - Second Session Added

During this four-day camp, you will explore the world of robotics using Lego Wedo 2.0 construction kits with the goal of joining our First Lego League Jr. Team (PJFL cardholders only) in the fall.(Preference will be given to those who participate in this camp.) Mindfulness for Children

The goal of this workshop is to provide you with an opportunity to learn about mindfulness and how it can teach you positive ways to handle challenging emotions such as anger, fear and sadness.  With certified counselor, Donna Salerno, you will learn deep breathing techniques, practice some related yoga poses, take part in a “melted butter” relaxation exercise and create a “breathing stick” to bring home and begin using right away.
