Bring Your Own Book Club: Graphic Novel Edition

For this program we'll be discussing graphic novel of your choice! Instead of worrying about finding and reading the library-chosen book for each month’s discussion, no preparation is needed — just show up ready to talk about anything you’ve read recently (or even not so recently). You’ll connect with other readers, walk away with recommendations and new ideas, and get a chance to sing the praises of your favorite books. This club meets on the last Saturday of every month, from 1-2 pm, at the ES Branch Library. Ages 8-12.

Library Dances is a 40 minute presentation of short contemporary dance works that include a dance poem, a dance essay, and the chapter of a dance novel.  During the performances, Maureen Shea will present solo works, while dancers from Springfield College’s dance department will present Shea’s choreography, Fleur de peau.  All are welcome to these free performances.  Library Dances is funded in part by the Local Cultural Councils of Hadley, South Hadley, and Springfield, local agencies funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council

They are a quick and easy way for kids to learn so much while also working on: independent play skills, math skills (capacity), imaginary play / dramatic play, life skills (pouring, scooping, transferring), fine motor skills,tactile learning and developing self-control.

Connecticut River Birding and Nature Walk

Join us at Riverfront Park as we learn about birding and the ecology of the Connecticut River Watershed with Bill Randolph, a naturalist with the US Fish & Wildlife Service. We'll meet the second Wednesday of each month May-September to watch seasonal bird migration and behavior, as well learning about other flora and fauna we may see along the riverbank. A few pair of adult and child binoculars will be available for use but you are encouraged to bring your own if you have them. Water and snacks will be provided. Wear comfortable shoes. This park is wheelchair accessible. All ages welcome!

They are a quick and easy way for kids to learn so much while also working on: independent play skills, math skills (capacity), imaginary play / dramatic play, life skills (pouring, scooping, transferring), fine motor skills,tactile learning and developing self-control. Join us at ES for a Sensory Playtime every other Tuesday at 10:30am-11:30am.

Connecticut River Birding and Nature Walk
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Join us at Riverfront Park as we learn about birding and the ecology of the Connecticut River Watershed with Bill Randolph, a naturalist with the US Fish & Wildlife Service. We'll meet the second Wednesday of each month May-September to watch seasonal bird migration and behavior, as well learning about other flora and fauna we may see along the riverbank. A few pair of adult and child binoculars will be available for use but you are encouraged to bring your own if you have them. Water and snacks will be provided. Wear comfortable shoes. This park is wheelchair accessible. All ages welcome!

Connecticut River Birding and Nature Walk
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Join us at Riverfront Park as we learn about birding and the ecology of the Connecticut River Watershed with Bill Randolph, a naturalist with the US Fish & Wildlife Service. We'll meet the second Wednesday of each month May-September to watch seasonal bird migration and behavior, as well learning about other flora and fauna we may see along the riverbank. A few pair of adult and child binoculars will be available for use but you are encouraged to bring your own if you have them. Water and snacks will be provided. Wear comfortable shoes. This park is wheelchair accessible. All ages welcome!

Recommended for families with children under three years old. No registration required, but we appreciate a call ahead if your group has 6 children or more.

Jump n' Jam Storytime

Storytime is the perfect way to spend your Thursday! We'll jump and dance and laugh the morning away—and of course, hear lots of awesome stories!

Jump n' Jam Storytime is geared toward ages 3-5, but all are welcome.

Be sure to browse our extensive collection of children's books and multimedia before or after the program! . Ages 0-5, older siblings welcome.
