Penn Yan Action Coalition Film Night
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Join the Penn Yan Action Coalition at the Penn Yan Public Library on Friday evening, August 9, from 5 – 7 P. M. to view an inspirational story of family, commitment, loyalty, community, and the American Dream.  This Disney movie is based on the true story of a teacher and track coach, Jim White, played by Kevin Costner, who takes a job in a predominately Latino high school located in a farming community in the San Joaquin valley in California in the late 1980’s.  Most of his students are the children of poor Mexican farm workers.  In the process, Coach White ends up learning as much, if not more, from his students as they do from him.  Discussion afterword for interested viewers.
